The Route
EIGHT STOPS.
ONE STORY.
St. Lucia to Austin, with everything in between. Recovery became the thread that connected every city, every sport, every new start.
Origin · St. Lucia
Straight Outta St. Lucia
St. Lucia shaped me before I even knew it. A small island with big athletes — Julien Alfred proving to the world that the Caribbean runs fast, runs proud. Growing up watching diaspora athletes carry a flag that barely anyone could place on a map lit something in me.
The island taught me that where you're from doesn't limit where you're going. It fuels it.
Chapter Two · Barbados
West Indian Roots
Barbados expanded the map. Cricket culture, carnival energy, and a West Indian sporting tradition that runs centuries deep. The Caribbean isn't one thing — it's an archipelago of distinct cultures that all share a version of the same hunger.
Barbados taught me that athletic identity is regional before it's national. We're all island kids first.
Chapter Three · Indianapolis
Indianapolis Never Stops
Indianapolis became home. Colts Sundays. Pacers playoff runs. A city that punches above its weight and never gets the respect it deserves — which made me love it even more.
Indy is where I learned what it means to root for something, to bleed for a team, and to find community in a stadium full of strangers who suddenly feel like family.
Chapter Four · Philadelphia
The Brotherly Grind
Philadelphia is the city that will tell you exactly what it thinks of you, then dare you to prove it wrong. Eagles fans, Sixers faithful, the Rocky steps — Philly sports culture is its own force of nature.
In Philly I learned that toughness isn't loud. It's just consistent. Show up. Do the work. That's the standard. Nothing else is accepted.
Chapter Five · St. Croix
St. Croix Grinds Different
Back to the islands, but a different kind of island. St. Croix runs IRONMAN. Triathletes swim, bike, and run in Caribbean heat that would stop most mainlanders before the first mile. It's a place where endurance is the local culture.
Croix brought me back to the water — and introduced me to a level of athletic suffering that made recovery stop being optional.
Chapter Six · Iowa
Flyover Country, Underrated Story
Iowa surprised me. Wrestling capital of the country. The Hawkeyes. A sports culture that is deep and serious and completely unbothered by whether anyone outside the Midwest is paying attention. That's a particular kind of integrity.
The middle of the map has some of the most dedicated athletes on earth. Nobody does it for the spotlight. Iowa reminded me why the work matters even when nobody is watching.
Now · Austin
Keep Austin Athletic
Austin is the chapter I'm living now. Austin FC culture. The marathon community. Endurance athletes grinding in the Texas heat. A city that moves — and expects you to move with it.
It's here that recovery stopped being optional and became the discipline that makes everything else possible.
The Method · Science
Recovery Is the Game
Every stop on this route led to the same realization: the athletes who last are the ones who recover. Not the ones who push hardest — the ones who reset fastest. The science of recovery is the throughline of every city, every sport, every season.
LactiGo made me a believer — transdermal sodium bicarbonate that actually works, without the GI issues. PUSH is where I put the science to work for anyone willing to pay attention.
